The whole history of the city in sounds and images to go up to Christmas

The legend of the moon fisherman, bullfighting traditions, the Lunel Canal and also Lunel Ose… A part of the city’s history will be revealed over the next three weekends (*) as part of the Christmas festivities. However, this story will be presented in a unique way. “We started with existing images, photos of people that we animated in 3D and which will be projected onto the facade of the Tourist Office”, says Christophe Rouvière, head of the company Vidéo Déco (read below) chosen by the City this summer to produce these Christmas projections.

A projection, not a map

Projections and not the “maps” that many other cities have been offering for a few years. “We are not on a map, we are not going to deconstruct or transform the facade of the Tourist Office with images. It is more a passage in time through animated images and a story,” specifies the head of Vidéo Déco. < br/> Images, synopsis and story were designed in close collaboration with the City, financially supported for this project by patrons from Lunel (read opposite). < em > “The City sent us the broad outlines of the story and, for our part, we worked with a graphic design studio based in Nancy to produce the three different paintings. All have been validated by the municipality”, explains Christophe Rouvière.

A very short focal length projector

Thus, the show is composed of three “acts” of about 6 minutes each: one is called the history of Lunel, another Lunel Ose and the last the Camargue. “There are images, a story, dialogues, music and sound effects” , summarizes the designer of the show. On the technical side, the Christmas projection on the facade of the Tourist Office began first with a reconnaissance by Vidéo Déco. “We had to determine the number of video projectors that we had to install according to the size of the facade as well as the power of this equipment. Finally, we are quite limited in projection surface, the building is not that big. We therefore chose to use only a video projector but with a short focal length which will allow us to have a wide projection of the image”, explains Christophe Rouvière.

And also, Christmas projections every evening

A projector that was installed this Thursday evening, but quite discreetly, since it is hidden in a black tower. The tests also took place, on site, Thursday from the end of the afternoon. Everything is now in place so that this Friday, from 7 p.m., shortly after the top lights (Place Louis-Rey) which launches the program of The Magic of Christmas in Lunel, the public discovers the sound and light show. Note that in addition to these projections every Friday and Saturday evening, Vidéo Déco also offers, every other evening, an animated projection on the theme of Christmas.

19-minute projection on the facade of the Tourist Office on Fridays and Saturdays 6 and 7; 13 and 14; 20 and 21 from 6 to 10 p.m., every 3/4 hour.
