If the smart ring market is promising, it is because this form factor allows you to benefit from health monitoring on an object that is more compact than watches. And currently, the leader in this market is Oura, which has been offering rings full of sensors for years, as well as an application that is capable of analyzing health data.
Recently, the company launched a new feature that could be revolutionary, as Oura says it is now able to predict, using data from its rings, whether a person is at risk of getting sick. Launched this December, the new feature is called Symptom Radar and is available on the Oura Ring Gen3 and Oura Ring 4. According to the company, Symptom Radar can detect early signs of illness, alerting the wearer to take proactive steps, such as resting, to avoid getting sick.
How it works?
“In addition to the 40+ biometrics tracked by Oura, Symptom Radar monitors specific parameters over time, such as skin temperature, average temperature trends, respiratory rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and inactivity time, as well as demographic information such as age”, the company explains.

As the screenshot below shows, Oura can indicate that there are no signs, that there are minor signs or major signs. And, for example, if minor signs are detected, the app advises the user to rest. Oura also presents the biometric parameters that indicate a constraint.
