Friday, December 6, 2024, the entire list of the Rural Coordination of Lozère met at Damien Bouquet's, co-president, to present themselves for the elections to the Chamber of Agriculture, which will be held from January 15 to 31, 2025.

“It is an honor to lead this list, I hope to victory.” This is what Jean-Luc Boulet, dairy sheep farmer and co-president of the Rural Coordination of Lozère, declared this Friday, December 6, 2024, at Bruel d'Esclanèdes. Alongside Damien Bouquet, the other co-president, he presented the list for the elections to the Chamber of Agriculture today.

Whether they were in a family-run GAEC (Groupement agricole d’exploitations en commun), independent or even retired, they were all united for the same cause: to defend and serve all sectors of agriculture, and more specifically to work for Lozère agriculture.

“Committed, motivated and dedicated”

“Defense of all farmers, simplification of the administration, improvement of income…” This is what came up most often in the mouths of these Lozère farmers, once again plunged into darkness with the very recent fall of the Barnier government. Despite such a political context, all affirmed to remain “committed, motivated and dedicated”.

The Rural Coordination has many objectives. First, it is the desire for a close and efficient chamber. It is an attempt to free the sector “administrative obstacles“. Then, it is to move towards a remunerative pricing policy. The union also wants to protect farmers from predators, by ensuring that the wolf is classified as a harmful species, or to deeply reform social and agricultural protection. Finally, the CR would like to put an end to “punitive ecology” and return to “a more pragmatic and realistic ecology“.

Supporting young people

Supporting young people in their installation is also an integral part of the union's demands, as testified by one of the retirees who is part of the list. “This is a territory where there are many possibilities. We must ensure that young people are better trained.”

For its campaign, the Rural Coordination plans to organize campaign aperitifs. The first will take place on December 12 at 7 p.m., in Châteauneuf-de-Randon.
