Fatal accident: the bus company was failing

#PYRENEES-ORIENTALES The company of the bus driver who had an accident in Porté-Puymorens on Sunday, December 1, causing the death of two passengers and seriously injuring 12 others, had been liquidated in September 2024, reveals El Periodico.

Its manager is said to have locked himself away “in an increasingly risky spiral, daring to travel without authorization, laying off staff and accumulating payment defaults” according to the Catalan daily.

Schools and sports clubs are said to have refused to continue working with this company, which had therefore refocused on excursions “at low cost.” Also according to El Periódico, the name of the bus driver in question does not appear in the national register of transport activities.

Camels are happy in Lozère

#LOZERE It is a little corner of paradise, near Sainte-Colombe-de-Montauroux, in the heart of Margeride. The Favier brothers raise around forty dromedaries there. “The story began on the Atlas. We realized that the milk of the dromedaries was the white gold of the Berbers.”

In 2019, the two brothers bought dromedaries that were already living in Europe so that they could adapt more easily to the sometimes harsh climate of Lozère. The idea was to produce camel milk for cosmetic purposes. A laboratory in Mages, in the Gard, offered to start production. Next goal: to provide summer walks by the sea.

Chefs concoct soups for a good cause

#BÉZIERSSeventeen Béziers restaurateurs are taking part this year in the fourth edition of the “chefs' soup” organised by the Kiwanis club service. They have been given the task of concocting soups that will be sold for 9 euros on Place Jean-Jaurès, Wednesday 11 December from 5pm and on Place de la Madeleine, Saturday 14 December from 8:30am.

400 jars of soup will be put on sale. The 3,500 euros that the association hopes to raise will be donated to the Georges Sand school's educational project, based on art, culture and sport.

A fresco in tribute to Jinx, a key figure in the Arcane series

#MONTPELLIER Jinx, the main character in the series “Arcane”, who goes from one setback to another throughout the episodes, has not brought bad luck (the translation of this first name in French) to the Fortiche animation studio at all. Quite the contrary. This Franco-American animated series, inspired by the world of the video game “League of Legends”, whose season 2 is currently broadcast on Netflix, is the most watched English-language series on this platform, and one of the most awarded.

Not to mention its performances on Youtube with more than 276 million views. Fortiche, created in Paris in 2009, has opened two other studios in Montpellier and the Canaries. This Friday, December 6, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Jinx, a fresco created by Arnaud De Jésus Gonçalves was offered to the municipality and installed in the lobby of the Halle de l'Innovation.

Today's figure: 68

#OCCITANIE This is the number of members of the regional council of secularism, which Carole Delga installed yesterday in Toulouse, a first in France. They are divided into three poles: “society”, “wise men” and “elected officials”.

With Henri Peña-Ruiz and Frédérique de la Morena as godfather and godmother, this body must “promote a secularism on the ground, support its implementation on the territory by the fight against discrimination and build a peaceful Republic”, summarized Ms. Delga.
