As every year at the same time, Airbnb has revealed a ranking of the most popular destinations for French users on the service. The opportunity for us to reveal to you this top 10 of the towns that should see many tourists arrive during the winter holidays.

Which areas are the French looking for?

Here are the top destinations most chosen by tourists:

  • Peyragudes, Occitanie
  • Uvernet-Fours, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
  • Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
  • Les Arcs-sur-Argens, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
  • Thônes, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
  • Mont Saint-Michel, Normandy
  • Pérols, Occitanie
  • Les Sables-d’Olonne, Pays de la Loire
  • Montauban, Occitanie
  • Le Barcarès, Occitanie

There are of course ski resorts in the lot, such as Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne located at the foot of the 3 Valleys. The seaside is also part of it with Mont-Saint-Michel and Barcarès. Commenting on these results, Clément Eulry, Director of Airbnb France, thus underlines:

This winter, many French families are turning to Airbnb to escape and continue to discover the diversity of our territories. The accommodations offered by many hosts throughout the country allow families not only to get together but also to reduce the cost of vacations by benefiting from practical on-site facilities such as a kitchen.

Stays abroad

Other holidaymakers are going further afield, particularly overseas, to Guadeloupe and Reunion Island, the service reports. Abroad, certain areas are also popular, such as Kittilä or Rovaniemi, to get closer to Santa Claus. Finally, Kyoyo and Tokyo in Japan and Milan in Italy are also popular with Airbnb users.

Little change compared to 2023

This ranking ultimately reveals relatively few surprises. In the ranking published last year, holidaymakers were already favouring mountainous areas and ski resorts. They were also banking on sunny areas near the Bordeaux vineyards or Nanterre, which is often in these Airbnb references.

And for good reason, this town has the advantage of offering good value for money for tourists wishing to discover the French capital in winter. Feel free to reread our previous article here.

What you need to remember:

  • Airbnb has revealed the most popular destinations in France for winter vacations
  • Ski resorts and seaside resorts are popular
  • Abroad, Japan, Italy and Finland are also very popular
