While Microsoft has failed to break into the smartphone market, it is now ensuring that its Windows operating system offers good integration with other mobile platforms. This integration is offered via the “Link to Windows” application on mobile and via the “Mobile Connected” application on Windows 11. However, pairing a smartphone with a Windows PC has more features when using an Android smartphone.
Easier file transfers between iPhone and Windows
But the good news is that Microsoft has just announced a major improvement for those who use an iPhone with a Windows PC. In a message addressed to “Insider” users (those who test these new features before the official launch), Microsoft indicates that it will gradually deploy “the ability to share files seamlessly” between an iPhone and a Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC, when the two devices are connected via the “Link to Windows” and “Mobile Connected” applications.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000Once the connection is configured on the iPhone and PC, the user will be able to send files to Windows in a few steps. All they have to do is find the file to send, press the share button, and choose the “Link to Windows” option. This is the kind of interoperability that makes everyday life much easier and helps push iPhone users to choose a Mac instead of a Windows PC.
For the moment reserved for Insiders
As mentioned above, Microsoft’s announcement is currently aimed at members of its Insider program. To take advantage of this feature, you will therefore need to be registered in the company’s Windows Insider program. You will also need to have an iPhone running iOS 16 or later, and use version 1.24112.73 of Microsoft's iPhone app. For now, the company is collecting feedback from its testers before rolling out this new feature to the general public. And the company has not provided a specific timeline.
