According to Spanish media reports, former MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaro is about to sign with the American cycling team Lidl-Trek.

From motorcycle circuits to mountain passes, it is clearly only a small step for Aleix Espargaro. A MotoGP rider for 20 years with three career victories, the Spaniard is about to embark on a new professional career, this time in cycling. Never seen before.

According to our colleagues from the Spanish sports daily AS, the native of Granollers in Catalonia will be part of the American World Tour team, Lidl-Trek, as a member of its development team from 2025.

The Vuelta in sight

Still a test rider for Honda next year, Espargaro will be able to fulfill his two roles while he is already in training in Spain with Lidl-Trek, which should announce the news in a few days.

Very good rider MTB, the Catalan should do gravel races, remind our colleagues at AS before, why not, competing with his new team for the Vuelta, the third and last major Tour of the season.
