Heavy goods vehicle on fire on the A9: traffic is seriously disrupted between Nîmes and Montpellier, more than an hour of traffic jams expected

Since 6:30 am, this Friday, December 13, a semi-trailer truck has caught fire near Saturargues, near Lunel on the A9. For reasons that are still unknown, this heavy goods vehicle transporting plastic balls was engulfed in flames.

The firefighters quickly arrived on the scene to intervene and secure the area that is very busy with motorists.

Serious disruptions

With the intervention of the firefighters, traffic is heavily impacted on the A9 between Nîmes and Montpellier, towards Spain after entrance no. 26 Gallargues-Aigues-Mortes.

According to forecasts, the journey time is extended by more than an hour, vehicles can only travel on one lane.

At n°25 Nîmes-Ouest and n°26 Gallargues on the A9 and n°2 Nîmes-Garons on the A54, motorists are therefore advised to exit the motorway. And it is also advisable not to enter the highway at these levels.
