The ankles of the runners who used it knew how much the athletics track on the Causse d'Auge in Mende needed a makeover. It has now been done. €170,500 of work, excluding taxes, 60% of which was funded by the State, was carried out to renovate it.

This Saturday, December 14, the inauguration of this new ring was organized in the presence of Gilles Quénéhervé, the prefect, Régine Bourgade, the mayor, François Robin, his first deputy, Françoise Amarger-Brajon, his second deputy in charge of Solidarity and Social Cohesion, Vincent Martin, his fifth deputy in charge of Education, Physical Activities and Festivities, and Laurent Suau, the president of the Department and the Cœur de Lozère community of communes.

“A track subject to the elements”

“Initially, we were only supposed to make two lanes, remembers François Robin. Thanks to the extension of the former prefect Philippe Castanet, we were able to do the eight in a straight line, three on the sides and two on the rest. It is a track that is exposed to the elements and that had suffered a lot. Now, schools and associations will be able to practice athletics properly.”

For any exceptional use of the athletics track of the Causse d'Auge, it is possible to contact the sports department of the Cœur de Lozère community of communes.
