Ahmed Hesham set to leave MHB at the end of the season, another blow for the club

The question of Ahmed Hesham's naturalization no longer arises. Considered with the player's consent to allow the arrival next season at Montpellier Handball of a 3rd non-EU player – in this case the Brazilian Rogerio Moraes -, the operation is now at a standstill.

According to our information, the Egyptian left-back, considered one of the best in the world in his position, has decided to leave the MHB next June, two seasons before the end of his contract in Hérault (2027). Barring an improbable turnaround, the 24-year-old should bounce back in Veszprém, Hungary, where Ludovic Fabregas, Hugo Descat and Nedim Remili currently play.

Erick Mathé's silence

Questioned on Friday before a trip to Dunkirk, Erick Mathé, the Montpellier coach, did not wish to comment before inviting us to see “with the president”. Reached by phone in the process, the latter did not shirk.

“Like the Plock club a few weeks ago, Veszprém made an offer to Ahmed, acknowledged Julien Deljarry. It's a reality. Today, we are still in discussions. For this to succeed, there are two conditions. That we find a replacement of the same level or almost and that Veszprém makes an acceptable offer for the purchase of his two years of contract.”

“The best player at MHB since Nikola Karabatic”

According to the latest news, the planets could well align by the end of November. The Hungarian club, for whom money is no object, would indeed be ready to pay 300,000 euros to secure the services of this immense talent, “without doubt the best player to have passed through MHB since Nikola Karabatic”, estimates Julien Deljarry.

Concerning the name of his replacement, however, we will have to wait a little longer. “Top players”, capable of defending and attacking relentlessly, are not easy to come by. A priori, this rare bird will not be French.

After Karl Konan at PSG

After Karl Konan, who will join Paris SG this summer, this new departure, if it is confirmed, is not really good news for the MHB, even though it could allow it to replenish its coffers.

Sportingly, it is an undeniable setback.
