A damning report from the Regional Health Agency, detailed this Monday, December 16 by our colleagues at Le Monde and Radio France, pointed out the contamination of the water resources of the Perrier factory in Vergèze. The mayor of the town spoke at the city council this Tuesday.
Following the report submitted by the Regional Health Agency concerning the Perrier factory, and revealed by our colleagues at Le Monde, the mayor of Vergèze, Pascale Fortunat-Deschamps, spoke at the municipal council meeting held on the evening of Tuesday, December 17, indicating that “despite the numerous requests, I wanted to keep my initial observations for my council, I did not want to add confusion to the confusion.”
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000The elected official from Gard explained that she had “called the Prefect (Editor's note: Jérôme Bonet) and he told me that there was no new information under the sun since the ARS observations (National Health Agency) last spring, that there was no additional contamination of the water tables and that decisions would be made in the first half of 2025.”
“No concerns but we remain vigilant”
The mayor indicated that she had similar discussions with Sophie Dubois, CEO of Nestlé Waters France, who told her that “Nestlé has invested €150 million in the Vergèze site in recent years “to prepare for the future” – meaning not to close or get rid of it – and that she had met with the factory's unions and spoken to them in the same way. So there is no need to worry, but let's remain vigilant.”
Concerning carbon filters, the elected official clarified: “They are authorized by European legislation, not French law. Natural mineral water is our heritage and we will defend it as we will defend and speak for the employees. The glassworks staff are also worried because there is a drop in Perrier production, therefore glass bottles.”
Pascale Fortunat-Deschamps also mentioned the production of waters from the new Maison Perrier brand which, “do not have a surcharge, a loss of revenue for the community but that will be the subject of another fight!”
