IN BRIEF

  • The excessive media coverage of the Pierre Palmade case raises questions about the limits of privacy and public information.

The Pierre Palmade case is one of those that has been most discussed in recent months. While he was behind the wheel of his car in February 2023, the comedian caused a serious road accident that made headlines. A highly publicized case that Julia Courvoisier wanted to return to in the columns of Mariannethis Tuesday, December 17. The lawyer at the Paris bar deplores in particular the fact that this media coverage has generated unexpected interviews and confidences that took up too much space. “It was time to turn the page on the excesses, whether they come from certain journalists, certain lawyers, commentators but also from the general public”, she began.

Among the people who have spoken publicly of this case, there are journalists, the prosecutor but also people who have worked with Pierre Palmade. “Press conferences by the victims' lawyer while his clients are still intubated in their hospital beds and he does not have access to the investigation file”, the lawyer began before adding:  “revelations from a firefighter who arrived on the scene and who reported help to the woman who lost her fetus, neighbors, cousins, pharmacists”. What she also deplores ? The presence “of former lovers who will sell their sexual confidences to Cyril Hanouna on TPMP…”.

Pierre Palmade: a very serious affair mediatised

When Pierre Palmade caused this terrible accident, news channels and television shows were trying to get the slightest bit of information about him. To do this, they did not hesitate to talk about his addictions, inviting people close to the comedian. This is particularly the case on Cyril Hanouna's set. Former lovers did not hesitate to come and testify about the evenings in which Pierre Palmade participated. During these interviews, very precise details were revealed.

Present on the set of Touche pas à mon poste, Jérémy Bellet had chained confidences concerning the consumption of the comedian. “I absolutely do not want to accuse Pierre Palmade. I was also aware of what I was doing, but as I was around him, I fell in certain excesses: more alcohol, touching and trying cocaine…”, he had notably affirmed. Jérémy Bellet had, subsequently, declared that Pierre Palmade éwas “a sad clown. But I always told him: 'drugs, cocaine, çit will kill you'”, he declared.
