In 2023, Anne Hidalgo's trip to Tahiti to visit surfing events for the 2024 Olympic Games had created controversy. The cost of the trip was then in the thousands of euros.
Between October 16 and November 5, 2023, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo traveled to French Polynesia and Tahiti to inspect the infrastructure planned to host the surfing event of the competition.
The trip caused controversy due to its cost but also because she did not show up for some of the scheduled appointments.
A trip that created controversy

Searches were then conducted by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office in March 2024.

30,000 euros in telephone costs
But as our colleagues at Canard Enchaîné noted, nearly 30,000 euros in telephone costs were not on the list provided by the town hall, even though they were covered by the town hall.
Anne Hidalgo actually used her phone on the island as she does in mainland France, unaware that a special telephone subscription is required on the island, particularly to go on the Internet.
In Furthermore, no one warned the mayor that his subscription was not compatible with the local operator. Anne Hidalgo therefore went way over her phone plan.
