A geeky priest launches a connected quest
#NÎMES At the Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc church, you can now pay your contribution by credit card. “I never stop using modern means to evangelize. You have to live the faith in your time”, says Father Philippe Jullien who describes himself as a “geeky priest” and who was a trained programmer analyst and computer researcher in a company before becoming a priest “When I arrived here, the parish was dead”, he remembers.
His karaoke masses have boosted attendance, “in one year, the number of faithful has increased fivefold”, he smiles. But the collection remains modest in this working-class neighborhood, barely €200 per mass. While it represents 30% of the resources of a struggling diocese. Setting up connected baskets was therefore an obvious choice for him for “being in the world and being in the church, you must not be afraid of technology”.
The concept has existed for about fifteen years. Two years ago, Father Jullien initiated an experiment in three pilot parishes, including his own.

#MILLAU After marching in Rodez on November 19, the Rural Coordination 12 is continuing its mobilization. Farmers from the Rural Coordination took over the Millau viaduct roundabout to demand an increase in the price of milk and a complete abandonment of the EU-Mercosur free trade agreements.
“We see that all the major powers are gradually closing in on themselves, protecting themselves, while we, Europe, want to open up to everything. No, we do not want to perish on the altar of the automobile, which is why we are advocating more protectionism”, explains the head of the CR list in the department, who does not rule out new mobilizations in the coming weeks.
The tramway line 5 will be inaugurated in a an
#MONTPELLIERIn exactly one year, the Montpellier Metropolis will inaugurate the fifth tramway line from the Girac roundabout in the north of the city to the Genneveaux roundabout in the southwest. There are still 10% of the tracks to be laid in the northern sector.
Currently, the work is focusing on everything related to systems: traffic lights, railway lights, high and low voltage, operating systems, passenger information terminals, and the installation of station shelters which will start at the end of the year…
The work is progressing less quickly in the western sector. The infrastructure work will last until July 2025, while the northern section will begin rolling tests. photo Tanya Contreras
EasyJet leaves Toulouse
#ECONOMYCreated in 2012, the easyJet base in Toulouse will close on April 1, announces La Dépêche. The 125 Toulouse employees have the choice between redundancy and a transfer to one of the six other easyJet bases in France.
Management cites “a combination of factors, including a slower post-Covid recovery and inflationary pressure” to explain its choice. An argument dismissed out of hand by the Union of Civil Aviation Navigators (UNAC) which “still denounces the absence of economic reasons that would justify this plan.”

#MENDE This is, in km, the positive elevation gain of the 620 km course that the trail runners of the adventure raid world championship covered.
The 29-year-old Benjamin Fayet from Mende and his teammates Sandrine Béranger, Sébastien Raichon and Adrien Lhermet won the title world at the end of this high-level race that took place in Ecuador. The 400 Team finished the race in four days, with only 2.5 hours of sleep. A great feat.
