Didier Bresson se retrouve en minorité au sein de son conseil municipal. Midi Libre
Things are not going well within the Cers municipal council. Nine elected members of the majority have decided not to vote for the 2025 budget. Mayor Didier Bresson finds himself in difficulty, he denounces a "betrayal".
In the Cers municipal council this week, 9 of the 17 elected members of the majority did not vote for the 2025 budget. In fact, Mayor Didier Bresson finds himself in difficulty. A reversal that is in line with the municipal council of November 17, during which the same nine elected members had already voted against a decision to amend the budget. And tensions have not calmed down.
But then why this distrust ? It would be a lack of consultation that would have pushed the elected officials to act in this way. In a press release read by Didier Bresson in council, it was a lack of listening on the part of the chief magistrate that was thus pointed out by a large part of the municipal team, Xavier Rouquette in the lead. The day after this reading, the mayor withdrew their delegations and indemnities from the signatories. The rupture was complete.

“We are several elected officials to question the sincerity of the budget presented”, Xavier Rouquette briefly indicates in a message. “For the moment, we do not wish to express ourselves pending the next municipal council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2025”, he continues.
Didier Bresson, for his part, evokes “a misunderstanding”. “We presented the budget much earlier this year because there are houses in danger as well as the church and some work will have to start quickly… Now, it will delay things, it is against the interest of the village.”
“All the work is done without recourse to credit”
The mayor evokes “a betrayal”, a question “of egos” too. And finally he doesn't understand what he is being accused of: “I had a meeting with my deputies every week, they were always informed. As mayor, I have to decide, there are choices to be made. But I have always made compromises”, he defends himself. “Moreover, when I arrived, the municipality was in debt. There, all the work is done without recourse to credit… They want to manage without me. And they blackmailed me: if their opinion is not listened to, they will systematically oppose!”
Result: the municipality has not yet adopted its next budget. The rest ? A new presentation of this budget in the municipal council on January 7. If this budget does not receive enough votes, the prefecture will come into play. “If my budget is good, it will be approved by the accounts committee”, specifies Didier Bresson.
“I will not give in”
The latter still risks encountering great difficulties in having his deliberations adopted and in leading the commune under these conditions. But resignations will be necessary to trigger possible new elections.
In the meantime, “I will not give in”, he affirms. Recalling that he is implementing the program for which he was elected.
