Dimanche 22 décembre, le club de Vauvert accueille les meilleurs coureurs régionaux.
As far as I can remember as the president of the Departmental Cycling Committee, ''it's been more than ten years since there were any regional events in the Gard'', confided Daniel Marcou, last Thursday at the Maison de la Région, in Nîmes, during the presentation of the Occitanie cyclo-cross championships, organized tomorrow by Vélo Tonic vauverdois (VTV).

''With our experience, the support and the success of the two previous rounds of the Gard Cyclo-cross Challenge, organized by the FFC Departmental Cycling Committee, we have applied to host this regional championship, explains Frédéric Suraux, secretary of the VTV. In view of this success, our elected officials told us that we had to move on to the next level.''
Sunday, for the three hundred or so participants expected, it will be invigorating, Chemin des Plaines, on the retention basin. On the elite race, a course of approximately 3.3 km, punctuated by difficulties of all kinds, awaits the participants, the time of fifty minutes of effort. ''We will have high-level competitors who will come to compete for the title each in their category'', indicates Mr. Suraux.
Under the eye of a road pro, Alexandre Delettre
Just before the holidays, here is a nice Christmas present in the VTV hut, the epicenter, for a day, of cyclo-cross in Occitanie. ''Between the interest of the course itself, where there will be passages on foot, running, cycling, with several obstacles to overcome, and the site, very suitable, it promises a lot of entertainment and an afternoon… Tonic, I would say (sic)'', notes Mr. Suraux.
In Vauvert, on a muddy terrain, amateurs will do battle on the pedals under the eyes of a professional cyclist, Alexandre Delettre (Team Total Energies). A former member of the peloton, Romain Le Roux, organizer of the Étoile de Bessèges, will also be present. In the Gard, the great cycling family has a meeting.
