A warm and welcoming voice, a singing accent, simple and generous recipes, Maïté has left its mark on generations of television viewers, as pointed out by Gala. In recent years, the cook had moved away from TV sets, choosing to return to the calm of her native village, Rion-des-Landes. There, the illness gradually took its toll. Although the media often mentioned Maïté's state of health, it was nevertheless necessary to wait for the latest testimonies from her relatives to realize the extent of the situation. On the set of BFMTVLaurent Civel, the mayor of Rion-des-Landes, mentioned “the disease that touched her, which we know only too well, and which takes away the memories immediate “.

In 2023, AcuLandes.fr, a local media , already mentioned the state of health of Maïté, announcing that the cook had suffered from a “neurodegenerative disease ;generative, without specifically naming one disease or another. But the remarks made by the mayor of the cook's native village leaves little room for doubt.

In 2022, it is her granddaughter, Camille Ordonez, candidate for the showéObjectif Top Chef en 2018, who spoke on health of her grandmother during her appearance on the set of the showÇa starts today, broadcast on France 2. “This media side has passed from her. In 2010, she chose to retire and be quiet. (…) She is doing very well! She is enjoying her retirement with us, still in her village of Rion-des-Landes“, had thus explained the young woman.
