“Two cabin crew members are still hospitalized. One of them had to be transported by helicopter to a hospital in Graz yesterday and is currently in intensive care, his condition remains uncertain”, Swiss said, adding that all passengers were able to leave the hospital.

The company, a subsidiary of Germany's Lufthansa, has chartered a special flight that is to land in Zurich late in the morning with 63 passengers on board, according to Swiss.

On Monday, an Airbus A220-300 had to make an emergency landing in Graz, Austria, before being evacuated “due to problems engine and smoke detection in the cabin and cockpit”, the airline said, although it has not yet provided an explanation for the causes of the smoke.

There were 74 passengers and 5 crew members on board.
