Africa Liberté est l’association créée par Rama Gomis, à Nîmes. Elle dit : “My mission is to reach out to others, to help people. I have always worked in the social sector.” Originally from Senegal, she moved to Nîmes 14 years ago, after spending a decade in Marseille. There, at the Confédération de défense des familles, she had her office in deprived neighborhoods. Here, her solidarity actions have already been recognized by the City. Rama has been able to highlight her multiple talents, continuing to learn in order to undertake, create, and transmit, always in a spirit of solidarity. In an aside, she talks about her project, with conviction and a smile: “Cooking is a passion. While waiting to be able to set up my food truck, La Baraqu’à Rama in town, I offer my cooking services to individuals, on request. For these end-of-year celebrations, the escape can be gourmet… Maffé, yassa (chicken meat or fish marinated in lemon), tiep (rice cooked with meat), fatayas (rissole stuffed with minced meat and vegetables), plantain bananas and ginger and bissap (hibiscus flower) juices.”

Audiences mixed around dancing and a maffé

The Africa Liberté association often includes, in its solidarity events, a moment of exchange around the flavors of Senegalese cuisine. The latest event took place last Sunday, in partnership with Paloma. “The day was very beautiful. The African dance workshop (yes, the association gives dance lessons at the Maison des associations) was a gathering of different people, young minors, young migrants, people in great social difficulty, all followed by the solidarity associations, Espelido, RESF and Trampoline, with their chaperones, the students of the Crous and the trainees of the dance course.” This mixed audience created “a joyful cocktail, around a maffé (peanuts, meat and vegetables accompanied by white rice) that our association offered to the young migrants!”

Contact at 07 61 22 01 11. Order deadline, 2 days in advance, for 3 to 100 people. Solidarity price: 10 euros per share.
