Volunteers from the Bagnols-sur-Cèze festival committee ensure safety and good humor at the ice rink

Volunteers from the Bagnols-sur-Cèze festival committee present for the management of the ice rink and the safety of the skaters, this Thursday, December 26. Midi Libre – A. C. D.

Open since December 13, the Bagnols-sur-Cèze ice rink is managed by the festival committee. The day after Christmas, after a day of closure, the volunteers were back around the rink to take turns at the different posts, in a good mood and efficiency.

There were a lot of people at the Bagnols-sur-Cèze ice rink this Thursday, December 26. At the foot of the Léon-Alègre media library, the laughter and shouts of the children took up the whole place. “Seeing these families having fun and laughing is a great pleasure“, rejoices Guillaume Dilmi, a volunteer with the association for twenty years, with a smile. The day after Christmas, the volunteers were already back on duty. During the day, about ten of them took turns at the various posts: collecting tickets, distributing skates, security on the track, catering, etc. “It's not a chore at all, explain Fred Genest and Magalie Garcia, responsible for supervising the budding skaters. If you ignore the mistral, everything is fine. We keep busy, we joke around, we chat with the families… Honestly, we have fun.”

Good humor prevails among the volunteers: You're still doing nothing ?“, said one. Answer: “Well, like you!” Guaranteed to make you laugh!

“We're short of hands and it's affecting our workload”

In total, the association has sixty members. These volunteers range in age from 13, for the latest recruit, to 71 for the oldest. Despite the generational differences, it's often for the same reasons that they wanted to get involved. “I wanted to make myself useful and not just sit around doing nothing, explains Claude Dieudonné, treasurer and dean of the committee. It also allows me to continue to see people.” An argument shared by Michel Bey: “There is a very good atmosphere and it is a large committee that has a lot of equipment, specifies the vice-treasurer. We never get bored and we can organize a lot of events.

The only difficulty encountered by the festival committee, like many associations, is that “at first glance, there are a lot of us, but in reality we are short of hands and it is felt in our workload at the ice rink, adds Guillaume Dilmi. Out of 60 members, only about twenty are really active.” It is not yet time for rest for the volunteers. Some members of the committee will be present every day, for almost eight hours, until closing on January 5th.

The ice rink is open every day (except January 1st) from 10am to 12pm and then from 2pm to 6:30pm until January 5th. Closes at 5pm on December 31st. Price: €3 for 30 minutes.

The next event organized by the festival committee will take place on Saturday March 22nd with a special day for Saint Patrick's Day.

At 13, already very involved

Julio Dilmi is the latest recruit to the festival committee. À Only 13 years old, the middle school student comes to support the association whenever he has free time. He became a volunteer in September. “My father told me that he liked it so I wanted to try it,”r, explains Julio Dilmi. I have been participating for a few months now and I enjoy helping.

&Agrave the ice rink, the student takes care of giving and receiving the skates. On other events, Julio Dilmi regularly supports the volunteers at the refreshment bar.
