Difficult day after the party ? A hangover, with its share of nausea, headaches and fatigue, can spoil the magic of celebrations. While moderation remains the best prevention, certain foods can help you recover faster. Lemon, honey, banana: discover three natural allies to soothe excesses and get back on the right foot.

According to L'Internaute, a hangover is a set of symptoms inherent to “a well-watered evening”, in other words nausea, headaches, muscle pain, fatigue, and other feelings of weakness following excessive alcohol consumption.

The best way to protect yourself from it remains moderation, but there are several tips – and foods – that can also help reduce the damage caused by such excesses. Here are three that could help some people during the holiday season.

Lemon, a must-have

The citrus fruit with its tangy taste is known to be a detoxifier, which therefore helps cleanse the body. It is not a miracle solution, but it does help eliminate toxins present in the body more easily, while rehydrating it. To top it all off, lemon is rich in vitamin C, which helps stimulate the immune system, and also facilitates digestion.

So many assets that make it an essential ally to fight against hangovers. The best is to consume it mixed with water, with grated ginger to relieve nausea and stomach aches. But it is also possible to drink it in the form of lemon tea, or even with sparkling water and a pinch of salt.

Honey, the sweet ally

Less known than lemon, honey is nonetheless an effective ally against hangovers, and this is because it is rich in fructose and glucose. Not only does honey help you regain the energy you need to face a difficult tomorrow – December 25, in this case – but it also helps restore blood glucose levels and has properties that help soothe stomach aches and fight nausea.

You can eat it on toast, or even by the spoonful, but the best thing to do is to add a spoonful or two of honey to your lemon tea – there's no secret – to your tea.

Banana, the boost

A hangover means dehydration and loss of potassium, which is essential for the body to function properly. It is therefore advisable to consume foods that are full of them, such as spinach, avocados, apricots, dates, prunes, or even… bananas.

This intake allows the body to recover more easily, and to fight against all the symptoms linked to a hangover, including fatigue. This is essential to continue the end-of-year celebrations as they should be.
