"It gave me some great publicity for my work", the tenants of the pop-up shops in Bagnols-sur-Cèze are generally satisfied

En 2024, quatre boutiques éphémères ont ouvert à Bagnols-sur-Cèze pour la période des fêtes de fin d’année. Midi Libre – A. C. D.

Les artisans rendent les locaux des boutiques éphémères de Bagnols-sur-Cèze le 31 décembre. Après un mois d’activité, trois créateurs ont pu rembourser le tarif de leur location et bénéficier de visibilité auprès des Bagnolais.

The four pop-up shops in Bagnols-sur-Cèze are closing in a few hours. A month after the first curtain raiser, on Rue de la République, the tenants are rather satisfied. “This year, I managed to sell five paintings, says painter Patrice Montaz. As always, for the past five years, it went well. I'm even starting to have a regular clientele.”

Patrice Montaz, Colette Reboul and Véronique Humbert have each reimbursed the rental amount thanks to their sales. They have also benefited from visibility among the Bagnolais. “This month, I saw a lot of people come into the shop to look at my works, says Colette Reboul cheerfully. It gave me a great publicity boost for my work and I even had someone order a painting! “

A rent that divides tenants

This year, the rent for a pop-up shop was set at €260 by the town hall. Among the shopkeepers who decided to get started, painters Patrice Montaz and Colette Reboul have collocated a shop, thus dividing the price by two. “It's very advantageous for us artists because privatizing an art gallery can cost twice as much,” emphasizes Colette Reboul.

While some see it as an advantageous opportunity, others are more mixed on this financial investment. “The majority of my sales are Christmas decorations that cost between two and five euros, explains Véronique Humbert, a designer of objects, already present, for the first time, in 2023. I have to sell a lot of creations to not be a loser. I thought twice before renting this year.”

So will he or will he not repeat the experience next year? If Patrice Montaz “will be there because I have never been a financial loser“, Véronique Humbert prefers to take a step back. “The rental was more expensive than in 2023, testifies the craftswoman. If the rates go up again for 2025, I'm not sure I'll rent for another year.

Véronique Humbert's shop is open until late Tuesday, December 31st morning. The other shops closed their doors on December 30th.
