Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau expressed his anger following the return to France of a 59-year-old Algerian influencer based in Montpellier.

“Algeria is trying to humiliate France”, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau said on Friday, January 10, 2025, the day after an Algerian influencer based in Montpellier was sent back to France after posting a video calling for violence.

“An extremely high threshold worrying”

Arrested in Montpellier this Saturday, January 4, 2025 after calling for violent acts on Tiktok, the arrest of “Doualemn” was welcomed by the Minister of the Interior. But Algeria refused his expulsion this Thursday evening and sent him back to France.

“I think that we have reached an extremely worrying threshold with Algeria”, added the minister, who was speaking during a trip to Nantes.
