Gérard Larcher aurait passé commande d’un nouveau siège pour la présidence de séance au Sénat. "Le Canard Enchaîné" révèle le prix de ce "modeste" achat dans un article publié le 7 janvier 2025.

“40,000 euros excluding taxes” according to Le Canard Enchaîné . This is the price paid by Gérard Larcher's services to acquire a new seat for the president of the Senate, the satirical newspaper revealed on January 7, 2025.

Interviewed by Le Canard Enchaîné, the services of the president of the High Assembly confirm the purchase without mentioning the amount of the expenditure.

“Intense Use”

Gérard Larcher is not the only one to sit on the perch. He is supported by eight vice -presidents. The previous seat was reportedly subjected to “intense use” and “multiple handling” 'after the services of Gérard Larcher cited by the satirical newspaper.

Nothing to his taste in the State collection

The national furniture department was asked to provide a replacement but Gérard Larcher reportedly found nothing to his taste in the State collection, he added Le Canard.

A contract to design and manufacture a new seat was awarded last June to a company whose name has not been revealed.

The new chair and its replacement double should join the Palais du Luxembourg next spring.
