In the game of series, Netflix is determined to win. The second season of the South Korean series “Squid Game” became the first season to reach more than 126 million views in record time, a feat never before achieved on the platform.

In just four days, “Squid Game” has conquered Netflix with a breathtaking performance. The second season of the South Korean series has accumulated 68 million views, thus achieving the biggest launch ever observed on the streaming platform, the American giant revealed on its official website.

During its first full week of availability, “Squid Game” continued its momentum by recording 58.2 million views, which allowed it to take first place in the Top 10 non-English series available on Netflix in 91 countries, including France.

In just eleven days, the series has racked up an impressive 126.2 million views. This figure surpasses that of any other Netflix series in that time frame, marking a new record for the American giant.

An Achievable Goal

To put these numbers into perspective, the first season of “Squid Game” generated 265.2 million views in its first 91 days of broadcast. With 126.2 million cumulative views already for the second season, there are only 139 million views left to reach in 80 days for this new season to surpass the first. Given the growing popularity of the series on social media, this goal seems entirely achievable.

The excitement surrounding the long-awaited launch of the second season of “Squid Game” has rekindled interest in the very first season. Although released on Netflix in 2021, season 1 has accumulated an additional 13.6 million views, allowing it to take second place in the Top 10 most-watched non-English series on the platform during the week of December 30, 2024 to January 5, 2025.

This success is certainly not due to chance. After three years of waiting, Netflix has put all the odds on its side, in particular by offering rewards in the free video game also available on the streaming platform, under certain conditions, as well as a surprise on Google.
