Death of Joëlle Maillet: tribute from Alexandre Jaffuel, principal of Bourrillon College in Mende, to his predecessor

L’ancienne cheffe d’établissement, qui a aussi officié au collège Odilon-Barrot de Villefort, s’en est allée le 29 décembre 2024 à l’âge de 77 ans.

Joëlle Maillet, former principal of the Odilon-Barrot college in Villefort and the Henri-Bourrillon college in Mende, died on December 29, 2024 at the age of 77. She was buried in the Montpellier Metropolitan Cemetery on Monday, January 13, 2025. Alexandre Jaffuel, current head of the Mende school, pays tribute to his predecessor.

“It is with great sadness and emotion that we learned of the recent death of Joëlle Maillet, who was principal of the school for nine years, from 2003 to 2012, he recalls. The staff, parents and students who knew her in the exercise of her functions have not forgotten her. Mrs. Maillet has indeed left her mark on the history of the Henri-Bourrillon college by proudly promoting the school's projects. A memory that will remain in the memories of the entire community for a long time school.”

“She was totally invested in her college”

Alexandre Jaffuel describes a devoted woman: “She will have left her mark on all those with whom she worked, through her presence, her personality, her great rigor, her tireless investment in the Henri-Bourrillon college, her deep attachment to the establishment and the public education service. A fully committed head of establishment, close to her colleagues, her staff and her students, Joëlle Maillet was totally invested in her college. Demonstrating great professionalism, visionary, competent, enterprising, she had only one goal: to make the Henri-Bourrillon college shine in the city of Mende and the department.”

A woman who “through her commitment to serving the establishment, was particularly appreciated by all. Isend my most sincere condolences to his family, his loved ones and all the members of the educational community of the college who worked alongside him.”
