With his many awards, including several Césars, Guillaume Canet's talent is no longer to be proven. Yet, while his films are generally very well received by critics, his son does not seem to be of the same opinion. As Bruce Toussaint recalls, he once declared that his father “only makes sh**ty films”. A sentence that provoked bursts of laughter all around the table.
Amused, the actor still wanted to defend himself. He replied “I should point out that he loved the film”. This doesn't seem to be a coincidence. “Since he's in it, I don't know if that's why, but he has already seen at least four times”. Indeed, at 13 years old, Marcel will share the screen with his father for the second time. We had already been able to see the son of Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet in Asterix and Obelix, the Middle Kingdom.
Ad Vitam: the new film à Guillaume Canet's success
If Marcel Canet was seduced by his father's new film, he is not the only one seduced. It is a real success on Netflix. It currently ranks first in the most-watched films on the streaming platform. The feature film tells the story of a former member of the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN), who sees his past resurface. In Ad Vitam, stunts and car chases are on the program. Scenes that required him to undergo intensive physical training.
For many weeks, he also shared the daily life of former members of the GIGN, as well as current recruits. A film for which he has once again fully invested himself.
