According to Nice-matin, which relays information from the specialized site Turbili, four connections from Nice Côte d'Azur airport are among the European top 10 with the most turbulence in 2024. The creator of the site analyzed nearly 10,000 flights connecting the 550 largest airports in the world.

The flights concerned are: Nice-Geneva in first place, Nice-Zurich in second, Nice-Basel in fifth position and Nice-Lyon in seventh position of the most turbulent routes. The reason for this ranking is the overflight of the Alps mountain range which can create interference.

The rest of the ranking:

Milan-Zurich 3rd Lyon-Ferno 4th Geneva-Zurich 6th Geneva-Venice 8th Lyon-Zurich 9th Venice-Zurich 10th

Mendoza in 1st position

Don't worry, the turbulence levels for these destinations are low. They are at 16.065, 15.493, 15.325 and 14.987 in eddy dissipation rate (edd), which is the unit of calculation chosen by the site. Between 0-20, turbulence is considered light, between 20-40 moderate, between 40-60 strong, severe between 60-80 and finally extreme between 80-100.

The flight from Mendoza in Argentina to Santiago in Chile is the most turbulent in the world with a rate of 24,684.
