A palette slides
When accelerating again after using the electronic toll lane at 30 km/h, a pallet on which bags containing silver balls were stored apparently slipped and hit the rear door of the truck, reports La République de Seine-et-Marne.
The contents then spilled onto the asphalt. The drivers did not immediately notice the loss. When they realized it, a few kilometers later, the agents turned around and returned to the scene. The motorway company had already started to secure the site.
Silver balls on the road ?
“Most of the bags have been recovered, but it seems that the total weight found does not correspond to the quantity they were carrying,” Jean-Michel Bourlès, public prosecutor of Melun, told La République de Seine-et-Marne.
The damage would exceed 70,000 euros according to Le Parisien. The investigations are still ongoing.
The Brink’s vehicle came from Lyon and was heading towards Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport. It contained around 93,000 euros worth of merchandise, balls of almost pure silver intended in particular for the manufacture of jewelry, according to the daily.
Not all the balls of the precious metal were recovered.
