89-year-old French singer and composer, Michel Fugain actually took his first steps in cinema. He was on screen in the 1960s. He played in several films, including Le Chemin des Dames (1963), Au temps des châtaignes (1965) and Paris brûlé? (1966). Very versatile and talented, the artist also writes songs. It is thanks to his pen that he entered as a composer in the famous Barclay house in the 1970s. There, he collaborated with stars such as Marie Laforêt, Hugues Aufray and Dalida. 

Guest on Censuré, on Youtube, Michel Fugain discussed a lot of subjects. He talked about his daughter Laurette, about this great career, and gave his opinion on television and its backstage. Mimie Mathy at her worst ?

“She is isolated”, he said about the one who had been announced dead. According to him, her famous fictional role in Joséphine puts distance between the actress and the rest of the world. “And then she's sick, too”, Michel Fugain added.

Interviewed by TV Magazine, the person concerned had said more about her condition. “I had four back operations because of herniated discs”. However, she wanted to be reassuring. If she didn't “run like a gazelle”, she assured “that she was fine”. “I had ponytail syndrome which makes all the nerves get stuck and which is linked to my somewhat original configuration”, she explained.

Mimie Mathy and Michel Fugain, a complex relationship ?

“Between Mimie and you, the relationship is complex, isn't it ?” asked the journalist in the interview. “No, it's not complex! With Mimie, we did a lot of things together. I participated in putting her on the rails” replied the person concerned. Emphasizing his role as a mentor in his friend's career, he was delighted that a “small person” managed to make herself known. “It's very rare for a small person to have the career that Mimie has had!” he boasted.

Unfortunately, this great career has apparently put some distance between the two friends. “Çit distances us, because she becomes a fictional character, like that, from a thing”, he regretted. Despite everything, contact has not been broken at all. Michel Fugain even saw Mimie Mathy a few days ago.
