The socialist rapporteur of the commission, Alexandre Ouizille, contacted by Le Monde and France Info, assures that the opening of a judicial investigation will not “change anything […] Our commission cannot allow itself to be intimidated by anyone. An industrialist like Nestlé who has defrauded consumers for many years cannot escape it”.
A thousand employees at Vergèze
Contacted, Senator Laurent Burgoa (LR), chairman of the inquiry commission, also believes that the members of the commission “will be able to continue their work. A few years ago, in the Benalla affair, that did not prevent the commission from questioning Mr. Benalla. We, at the commission, do not do criminal matters. The question is whether the State has done everything possible to prevent criminal acts.” Senator Burgoa recently informed that the inquiry commission would visit the Perrier production site in Vergèze on February 7. A site that notably experienced contamination by bacteria of fecal origin in April 2024. Since then, the ARS report published on December 16, 2024 has revealed persistent contamination that could compromise the quality of the mineral waters produced on this site.
During his New Year's greetings on January 13, Senator Burgoa recalled that the site employs a thousand people in Vergèze.
