Nine robberies committed more than twenty years ago
In December 2003, two men on a motorbike entered several gas stations in the department to steal the cash register. The robberies were committed, according to witnesses, at gunpoint or even by violence. In this case, Karim Y. will be identified as the alleged perpetrator of the attacks. The motorcycle used for the robberies was identified as his. At that time, he was imprisoned in Switzerland for theft committed in a jewelry store and another in… a gas station. Clothes found in a vehicle and the testimony of a victim confirm the hypothesis of Karim's role in this case. Sentenced to twenty years in prison in May 2014 while he was on the run, he was finally arrested after a European committal warrant was issued.
His alleged accomplice, who was arrested and sentenced in 2013 to eight years in prison, then twelve years on appeal, was finally acquitted after an appeal in cassation in May 2017. In this case, Karim Y., who is represented by Me Nadia El Bouroumi, faces a sentence of twenty years in prison.
