Since 2019, the Camille-Claudel college in Montpellier and its English teacher Cindy Castes have been organizing meetings with BLMA players. This time, it was Cameroonian Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu and American Jasmine Bailey who answered the questions of the two third-year classes, this Tuesday, January 14.
From the first few seconds, the teenagers' questions came thick and fast. “Do you like living in Montpellier ?”, “What do you eat ?”, “What is your best memory on a court ?” All the themes were covered, from the music they listen to to their typical day, including sports. After twenty minutes of interviews, the students even dared to ask the fateful question of salary. Subjects that are sometimes not so easy to discuss between adults, but not for carefree youth.
Students invited to the next match
After two times thirty minutes of dialogue, the middle school students were able to take a photo with the two “stars” of the day. A class photo that then led to more individual shots. “I want my photo too”, could be heard from some teenagers.
For the basketball players, this visit is part of their desire to set a good example: “Work hard and believe in your dreams”. Words repeated by the two players. The students will see them again on Thursday. On the occasion of the 8th final return leg of the European Cup, the BLMA invited the students and staff of Camille-Claudel college. There will be 220 of them in total. A great reward after this hour of exchanges.
