Un bus aux couleurs de la République. Midi Libre – V. C.
En parallèle de la construction de la ligne 5 du tramway, Montpellier se dote d’une ligne de bus pas comme les autres, le bustram. Et voici à quoi ce nouveau mode de transport va ressembler…
In the spring of this year, a completely new mode of public transport will appear in the Montpellier landscape.
To perfect the alternative mobility offer to the car, the bustram – which is an intermediary between the tramway and the bus – will have its own reserved lane which will guarantee an optimized journey time. This fleet of 100% electric buses, produced by the manufacturer MAN, will have a frequency similar to the tramway.

And like all tram lines, the first bustram line that will connect Place de l’Europe to Notre-Dame de Sablassou in Castelnau, will be adorned with bright colors and a specific design.
The chosen artist
The artist who was selected to “dress” the first bustram line in Montpellier is Alain Le Quernec.
This internationally renowned French poster artist and cartoonist is characterized by his style, marked by striking visuals and committed messages dealing with social, political and cultural.
The work of this master of contemporary graphics embodies a strong artistic commitment, where aesthetics are put at the service of ideas and convictions.
An artistic design
During the presentation this Wednesday, January 22. Midi Libre – G. T.
The theme “The values of the Republic” was chosen. And here is the original design created by Alain Le Quernec to represent it.
The bustram will therefore be in the tricolor colors whose design recalls banners designed to appear in motion.
And with mentions like “Free, equal, together” to enhance the message carried by the colors of the Republic.
