Le nouveau bâtiment qui sera construit dans le prolongement de l’actuel centre hospitalier au pôle Louis-Serres, doit être livré fin 2026.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000After the screening of the first images of the future gerontological center of the hospital center (Midi Libre of January 20), we know a little more about the scope of the project. In total, the construction of this new building, which will bring together on a single site the current accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) République and Brunel (route de Mauguio), will be around €34 million. “It is an initial project at €38 million which has been revised to €33.8 million. It is financed by the Regional Health Agency to the tune of €12 million, including €9.8 million of European funds earmarked for the medical-social part”, explain the director of the hospital center Bertrand Vanneufville and the head of financial affairs Torrence Fageon.
Financial partners and a loan
Above all, the two men emphasize the importance of the other financial commitments that made it possible to complete the financing: “We benefit from a subsidy of €3.7 million from the Department and the hospital center itself is heavily involved. We have mobilized aid that we received from indebted establishments and we have also launched a loan of €12 million.”
A bridge with the hospital center
That's not all, the hospital center has also signed a sales agreement for the Brunel nursing home site that it owns. “The sale will become final when we vacate the site”, explains Bertrand Vanneufville.
Concerning the future gerontology center, the director details:“We will have 106 nursing home beds and 50 beds for the long-term care unit (USLD). We will also have on site the home nursing service and the day care associated with the nursing home which will relieve the work of caregivers.” Obviously, all the administrative and nursing staff will be transferred to this future building, modern and functional, which will be connected by a footbridge to the medical department of the current hospital center.
Laying of the first stone at the end of April
“This will be practical in the event of a patient being hospitalized and it will facilitate the work of the different medical teams who will thus be in contact. More generally, the premises of the gerontology center were designed to have a residential aspect. It is a building that is there to stay for decades and that takes into account the evolution of society”, indicates Torrence Fageon.
The building (ground floor plus 2 floors), the construction of which was entrusted to the Eiffage Group, will rise from the ground on land that belonged to the City and which was transferred to the hospital center for the symbolic euro. It will respect very strict environmental standards, particularly in terms of energy performance with the use of photovoltaic panels for sanitary water. The use of geothermal energy is also envisaged in a few years.
Moving in the 1st quarter of 2027
As for the construction site itself, it should start before the end of March and an official ceremony to lay the first stone is planned for the end of April. After 17 months of work, in the second half of 2026, the gerontology center will be delivered to the hospital center and the move of the 2 Ehpad République and Brunel is planned for the first quarter of 2027. “We will start with everything that is easily transferable and the residents will come last“, comments Bertrand Vanneufville.
