This commemoration took place on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, as part of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the elected representatives of the departmental council went to the site of the Rieucros camp in Mende, a place steeped in history and memory. This Tuesday, January 28, they laid roses, observed a minute of silence and, in this way, honored the memory of the men, women and children interned here, victims of barbarity.

Passing on this memory to future generations

“The Rieucros camp recalls the dark hours of our history. It is our collective duty to never forget the suffering endured and to continue to pass on this memory to future generations”, reminds the departmental councilors.
