Une première visite au centre de secours de Vailhauquès. D.R.
L'établissement propose depuis le début du mois de janvier de découvrir les métiers liés aux secours et à la protection des populations.
This year, Paul-Émile Victor College opened a section for civil security cadets, supervised by Mr. Mortet, the reference teacher. This new option is offered to 5th grade students and began this January with a visit to the Hérault Departmental Directorate for Population Protection in Vailhauquès and the Gignac Emergency Situations Engagement Preparation Center.

Designed to train and raise awareness among young people about the principles and values of civil security, this program also offers a unique opportunity to discover professions related to rescue and population protection. “This option allows us to develop psychosocial skills in our students: to train responsible citizens, aware of their environment and capable of acting for the collective good”, explains the principal of the college, Samira Chikh. “It promotes the learning of the values of solidarity, mutual aid and responsibility.”
Training citizens who are active participants in the world
The college staff are not left out, having been involved in the development of psychosocial skills since last year. For example, they were trained in the Prodas program, an emotional and social development program. “For several years, we have also been encouraging the development of CPS, through the training of our eco-delegates and our students from the college life council and the actions we carry out with them (planting fruit trees in the college, setting up birdhouses, cleaning beaches, collecting food and basic necessities for the benefit of the Restos du Cœur and the Maraudes 34, etc.)“, continues Samira Chikh. “This new option is therefore a natural fit with our school's policy of training citizens who are active participants in the world in which they live.”
