Catherine Deneuve and Carole Bouquet defend Gérard Depardieu

In December 2023, France 2 revealed his émission Complément d'enquête : Gérard Depardieu: the fall of the ogre. A sequence had then shocked where the actor appeared to sexualize a girl on a horse. Stars then gave their support to the actor in public and private. This Monday, the minister revealed that she had received numerous calls to support him.

“Ihad been called as minister, by Carole Bouquet, by Catherine Deneuve, by a certain number of women actresses who wanted to defend Gérard Depardieu.” confided, before the Assembly, Rima Abdul Malak. His latest assertions were that “he would not harm a fly, he is just bawdy, he is just clumsy, but he can't hurt a fly.”

The minister is not of the same opinion

Rima Abdul Malak wants to fight“against this violence so that it doesn't happen again, against this harassment which has become commonplace on the sets.” The politician assures that the heavy jokes“, should be called “harassment“. These words of sexual harassment, no one put them on his gestures, his actions, his words. That's the debate. I hope that this controversy has helped to shed light on these issues.”

Rima Abdul Malak clarified that she made a distinction between words and actions” on this affair. “It remains to the justice of rule on the complaints for rape.” She responded to Carole Bouquet and Catherine Deneuve, signatories of the column “Don't erase Gérard Depardieu”. “I said that Gérard Depardieu's films had to continue to be seen, to be shown, not to be removed from the cinematographic heritage. (…) On the other hand, I said that I don't see many people there who would want to have a big evening of homage to Gérard Depardieu, çthat would surprise me.”
