According to the Occitanie Exporters Club, "some companies are reviewing their deployment plans in the United States"

Gérard Martinez, President of the Club of French Exporters for Occitanie: “Companies are reassessing their deployment projects in the United States”. Midi Libre – MICHAEL ESDOURRUBAILH

Gérard Martinez chairs the Club of French Exporters for the Occitanie region.

At the Club of French Exporters for the Occitanie region, we are attentive to the evolution of Donald Trump's threats. “We are the third largest exporting region in France”,recalls Gérard Martinez, its president. Which Occitanie region, “unlike France, has a slightly surplus export balance”.

“The return of Trump taxes is bad news, continues Jérémy Guillot, member of the club and head of ENEA Douane. We have to fear for the development of our companies internationally”. Both cite the cases of companies in the region that are more or less impacted.

“Less a sector than a leader d'État”

“This is the case for Scaleo Medical, which specializes in cutting-edge medical equipment, and the Rambier wine estate, which are reassessing their deployment plans in the United States. This is also the case for the Nîmes-based company Bayer Seeds, which manufactures seeds”. On the other hand, “a company like NewTec Scientific, in the Gard, is not impacted. It is the Americans who come to get them”.

Jérémy Guillot believes that “Trump's pressure is less on a sector of activity or a country, and more on a head of state.” Indeed, “he put it with the German Chancellor, on Emmanuel Macron”. But “he must know that behind each head of state, there are also all the others, who make up the European Union”.
