Since 2019, Jolie Bougie has established itself in the world of artisanal candles thanks to the know-how and creativity of its founder Audrey Peyré, based in Vendres.
It all started in 2018, when Audrey Peyré made her first candles for her daughter's baptism. Seduced by this meticulous craft, she trained at the École de la bougie in La Londe-les-Maures and created “Jolie Bougie” in December 2019. For several years, she juggled her job in optics and her workshop before devoting herself to it full-time from April 2023. A year later, faced with growing demand, Jolie Bougie moved to a new 100 m² workshop in Vendres.
“Every year, my turnover increases by 30%. And today, my creations even travel internationally, as far as Senegal or Reunion Island”, the business leader rejoices. Its candles, made from natural and sustainable ingredients, appeal to both individuals and professionals, such as McDonald’s, which ordered three hundred and fifty personalized candles for the inauguration of a restaurant.
IMF-certified manufacturing
In April 2024, Jolie Bougie obtained the Indication de Marque Française (IMF) certification, issued by the General Directorate of Customs. “This certification is not mandatory, but it is a real guarantee of quality and authenticity”, explains the founder. Each candle is handmade according to a precise protocol to preserve the intensity of the fragrances. While Jolie Bougie offers creations intended for decoration, 80% of its business is based on the personalization of gifts for guests at weddings, baptisms and other events. “I also like to imagine new collections for each holiday or season. My brain is in turmoil, I write down all my ideas, even those that come to me at 4 a.m.!”
At the Paris Wedding Show
For Audrey Peyré, craftsmanship is not just about manufacturing: it is also a question of human relations. She has thus forged strong ties with her French suppliers of perfumes and wax. A proximity that is also found in her relationship with her customers. “Exchange is at the heart of my work, it is what reassures and builds loyalty.” On January 25 and 26, Jolie Bougie also participated in the Paris Wedding Show, an unmissable event that attracts 45,000 visitors per day. And a springboard that allowed her to expand her clientele and further strengthen her reputation.
Dedicated to passing on her know-how, Audrey Peyré is this year supporting a class from the Sérignan high school in the creation of a mini-company on scents. “I look forward to supporting these students in their project and sharing some of my experience as a candle maker and entrepreneur.”
