As a reminder, it was on December 9, 2024 that the trial of Christophe Ruggia had begun at the Paris court. “Now that justice has opened an investigation, I am not shirking my responsibilities, and I want to do everything in my power to see the judicial process through to the end. What I am expecting now, à personally, on the part of justice, it is support and reparation”, the actress had confided to the two Césars at the beginning of the legal case in the pages of Médiapart.
The trial itself did not go smoothly. Faced with Christophe Ruggia's attitude, Adèle Haenel could not contain her émotion on several occasions. Between insults and leaving the hearing, the victim exploded. “Five years of procedures which are of an unheard-of violence for this victim who must be seated there and hear the explanations given by this defendant, see the way he responds, the way he behaves and the comments he makes”, justified his lawyer, Me Anouck Michelin.
“Mr. Ruggia chose to attack her”
It should be noted that the prosecutor had requested a sentence of five years of imprisonment, two of which were firm, for Christophe Ruggia. She considered that the sentence was “there to replace the guilt in the right place”. “Adèle Haenel is the victim. Mr. Ruggia made the choice to sexually assault her. He is the adult. Justice is there to put things back in their place and it remains a lever for all those who have no other.” she added.
