A comic strip about life on the farm

#AUDE – Valérie Tesseyre, a former sheep farmer in Issel, in the Aude, embarked on an original project in 2017: to tell the story of her job through a comic strip. “It was a time when farmers were heavily criticized, we were called murderers, we were accused of mistreating our animals”, she explains. She then imagines the scenario and begins to draw. Mylenium, a colorist, joins the adventure. Thus is born Les Gnans-Gnans à la ferme, a comic book available to order on Ulule. The story follows the birth and childhood of two lambs.

Today's figure: 6

#OCCITANIE – This is the number of emergency vehicles hit since the beginning of 2025, on the Vinci Autoroute network. On Tuesday, around 5 a.m., on the Toulouse ring road, a Vinci Autoroute intervention van was hit from behind while parked near a construction site and the Montauban interchange. However, all the lights were on. Two men in yellow were in the van and one of them was injured in the head.

Mazan: the trial in Nîmes from October 6 to November 23

#GARD – The appeal trial for the Mazan rapes will be held in Nîmes, from October 6 to November 23, 2025. It should concern at most 13 of the 51 convicted by the Vaucluse criminal court, four of the 17 accused who appealed having since withdrawn. Work must be carried out to renovate the courtroom, in particular to improve the acoustics. Gisèle Pelicot, a civil party, should attend the hearings, as in Avignon. Dominique Pelicot, sentenced to 20 years, who did not appeal, will be heard as a witness. In addition, the appeal court will examine the requests for release of four of the convicts who appealed at the end of February.

Amandine's death: final convictions

#HERAULT –There will be no second trial on the atrocious ordeal of Amandine, 11, who died of starvation on August 6, 2020 in Montblanc, near Pézenas. Neither her mother, Sandrine Pissara, nor her stepfather, Jean-Michel Cros, appealed the sentences they were given at the end of a grueling week-long trial on January 24, 2025, before the Hérault Assize Court. Found guilty of acts of torture and barbarity resulting in death, Sandrine Pissara, 54, was sentenced to the sentence requested by the Montpellier public prosecutor: life imprisonment. However, the jurors went beyond the requirements for her partner, Jean-Michel Cros, against whom the prosecution had requested 18 years: he was sentenced to twenty years in prison for deprivation of care and food resulting in death. The investigation established that Amandine had been locked up for several weeks, naked, without food, in a closet equipped with a camera to monitor her.

A label for truffles

#AVEYRON – At the beginning of the 20th century, France produced around 1,000 tonnes of truffles, while it only sells 50 tonnes today. However, the black diamond wants to get back on its feet in Aveyron, which has obtained the Black Truffle of Aveyron label. At least that is the wish of the Aveyron truffle growers' association, in Comprégnac, near Millau, where the Maison de la truffe is located. “Truffles are becoming the trendy product”, confirms Stéphanie Fabre, head of Terroir Gourmand and the website Truffefrance.com. Rewarded with the digital transformation prize in 2024, Truffefrance offers fresh truffles, derivative products and equipment for truffle farming online.
