Threatened with euthanasia, the wild boar Rillette finally obtained the right to stay with her owner Élodie Cappé. Her situation was thus regularized by the Aube prefecture on Tuesday, February 4.

This Tuesday, February 4, the wild boar Rillette officially obtained the right to stay with the person who had taken her in, Élodie Cappé, manager of a horse farm in Chaource, south of Troyes. Au At the beginning of January, the administrative justice system had initially suspended the prefecture's decision prohibiting Élodie from keeping the animal, which was taken in from the wild in 2023. “Rillette is vaccinated and sterilized. In her enclosure, she has every comfort”, Élodie specified.

“Final victory”

“Our Rillette officially and definitively becomes Chaourcoise. Definitive victory”, exclaims Élodie in a post with many emoji with bottles of champagne. “It was obviously inconceivable for me to part with her: she is part of my family”, adds the breeder to our colleagues at France 3 Champagne-Ardenne.

While she can now officially keep the animal, its owner is subject to numerous conditions specified in the decree. For example, it must be kept in a place of accommodation of at least 400 square meters, must not come into contact with other animals in the farm or even not present it to the public.

To our colleagues, the breeder assured that she is keen to respect the rules imposed, particularly in relation to the many requests she receives from people wanting to see the animal. “They understand that it is not possible.” On the other hand, “she still receives as much mail and gifts. Yesterday, she received a package from Boston”, explains the breeder.
