Dynamite MMA: discover the five things to know about the discipline returning to Montpellier

This Saturday, February 8th, the 3rd edition of Dynamite MMA takes place at the Sud de France Arena. A sport where almost anything goes, which continues to gain popularity.

1/Legalized in France since January 2020

MMA is one of the last sports to be legalized in France. Banned for many years due to the violence of its fights, this sport continues to gain popularity in France.

Since the discipline was authorized five years ago, many organizations have been able to set up in France, filling the halls in a few minutes, as for the fight between the two Frenchmen Cédric Doumbè and Baki, who filled the Accor Arena in 20 minutes, Doumbè having declared “Even Beyoncé, she doesn't do that!”

2/The rules: 3 rounds of 5 minutes, no blows allowed

In this discipline, the fight is organized in three rounds of five minutes. To win the match, several scenarios are possible: a submission, a KO, a technical KO decided by the referee, the doctor, or the team, and disqualification. If the fight goes to the end of three rounds, the winner is declared by the decision of the three judges based on the scores awarded during the duel. (10 points for the winner, less for the loser)

In this sport seen as violent by many, some blows are still illegal. Blows to the nape of the neck, the neck, the spine, the genitals. But also pushing your fingers into an eye or any orifice, throwing the opponent on the head, biting, kicking an opponent on the ground, headbutting, or twisting a finger. These gestures made to protect physical integrity, can make the fighter lose points, or simply lead to his disqualification.

3/Ciryl Gane and Benoît Saint Denis from Nîmes, two great representatives of France in the best world championship (UFC)

In addition to being popular in France, this sport has good French representatives known internationally. 2nd in the heavyweight rankings in the UFC, the most famous league in the world, Ciryl Gane (34 years old, 1m93, 120kg), nicknamed “Bon Gamin”, is one of the intercontinental stars of this sport. Just like the former Nîmes military man, Benoît Saint Denis (29 years old, 1m80, 70kg), fighting in the “lightweight” category, made a meteoric rise by arriving in the UFC in 2021, and is now ranked 14th.

4/3rd edition of Dynamite MMA at the Sud de France Arena

After two successful first editions, Dynamite MMA returns for the third year to the Sud de France Arena, on February 8. A show bringing together international professional fighters from all over the world, to fight in the octagon in Montpellier.

5/Quentin Domergue and Edouard Bernadou local fighters of the stage

Two fighters will be at home during this Dynamite MMA, the Montpellier native Quentin Domergue, present during the last two editions, is back for another year, for a match that he knows is awaited by the entire public of the Sud de France Arena. After a complicated start to his career, he is flourishing today, and hopes to benefit from the support of the public in his French-French duel against Thibault Colleuil, for a fight that promises to be explosive.

The second fighter, Edouard Bernadou, seven-time kick-boxing world champion, returns to the Arena octagon for this new edition. After winning by KO last year, the Montalbanais hopes to repeat this performance once again.
