A man was shot and injured in the Rivière-des-Prairies area , in the east of the island of Montreal.

The victim is a 24-year-old man, discovered by police on 1st Street, near 24th Avenue, after a 911 call Sunday night, around 1:30 a.m.

The 24-year-old man was quickly transported to hospital with significant injuries to his upper body. According to the latest information obtained from the hospital center, he would now be out of danger, indicated agent Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).

The motive for this attempted murder is still unknown. The police investigation promises to be complex with three crime scenes to analyze.

A vehicle used in this attempted murder was found an intersection further, on Boulevard Gouin Est. The damaged vehicle was abandoned there, but it was not there that the shots rang out, leading the police to a third location, this time much further east.

The event would have occurred at the intersection of boulevard Maurice-Duplessis and avenue J.-J-Joubert, in Rivière- des-Prairies. Shell casings were also located at this location, said the SPVM spokesperson.
