The lawyer insists: « The complainant herself admitted to lying about her age, and this for months. She thus made Frédéric Beigbeder believe that she was of age at the time of their meeting, going so far as to falsify her date of birth on her identity document. She only admitted her lie to my client once she had reached the age of majority. »

On Wednesday, January 8, Frédéric Beigbeder, the famous French writer and columnist, once again made headlines. Accustomed to making headlines for his controversial positions, this time it was for a completely different reason that the man of letters attracted the spotlight.

Invited onto the set of the Club Figaro Culture, presented by Jean-Christophe Buisson, following the release of his new novel, “A Man Alone”, he made several revelations about his new work but also about his state of health.

Frédéric Beigbeder confides in his state of health

While he is in full promotion of his new book, Frédéric Beigbeder has let himself go to some confidences, revealing a little more about himself and the trials he has recently gone through. He explains: “I did therapy, for reasons I won't go into here, but I did therapy and the two results of therapy are a book and a heart attack“.

He continues: “It was three weeks ago, so almost both at the same time. So that means I was very far into authenticity, with that book. I wrote it for myself actually…”. Statements that give a glimpse of the synopsis of his new book, which will be very personal.

What will Frédéric Beigbeder's new book be about ?

Known for his novels critical of society, Frédéric Beigbeder has this time published a book that rather refers to its history. He thus seems to have put his whole heart into it… On the set of the Club Figaro Culture, he reveals to the listeners some key information about this work “I had to make a speech at my father's funeral, I couldn't make a 200-page speech, so I made a speech that was much too short, and I still had a lot of things to say”.

“A Man Alone” seems to be far from the rather satirical writings that made the writer famous. Here, he therefore paints a portrait of his father, about whom he says “not only favorable things”. He explains that he idolized him, but also that he held a certain resentment toward him, reproaching him in particular for not taking enough care of him. In addition to his personal history, this book also questions the paternity of yesterday and today.
