A direct debit of at least 75 euros is coming in a few days, many have forgotten it

Spread the love

With the holidays, many French people have skipped this upcoming deadline.

The start of the school year is here and its expenses with it: school supplies, clothing, equipment, sports or cultural licenses… September is definitely not a friend of bank accounts. With an average of around 900 euros spent this month, the budget is quickly flirting with the red. However, in September, it is not just the return to school that must be integrated. Another debit line also generally appears on the bank account.

In a few days, 10 million French people will see a direct debit displayed, labeled “DGFIP Direct Debit”. This will be recorded even if you have not made any purchases with a merchant of this name, or even the amount indicated. But don't panic, this is not fraud. And for good reason, it is the General Directorate of Public Finances.

It is in fact the taxes that will come and help themselves directly from your current account to settle your outstanding balance following your income tax return. Many French people still have to pay a balance to the tax authorities, in addition to the withholding tax already in place throughout the year. On average, around 2000 euros must be paid in addition to the DGFiP.

For people who have to pay an amount less than or equal to 300 euros, the payment will be made in one go: the total amount will be deducted at once. On the other hand, for people who have to pay 301 euros or more, the payment will be spread over four times, with equal amounts each time. This will therefore represent four direct debits of at least 75 euros. If you have 1200 euros left to pay, four direct debits of 300 euros will be made.

These deadlines are not new since the tax authorities communicated them to the taxpayers concerned in the income tax notice sent at the end of July. However, with summer and holidays, many have forgotten the dates. For all those who owe up to 300 euros, the direct debits will take place on Thursday, September 26. For those who owe more than 300 euros, the first direct debit will also take place on Thursday, September 26; the second is scheduled for Friday, October 25; Monday, November 25 for the third; then Friday December 27th for the final deadline.
