A first homicide perpetrated in Montreal in 2024

The man discovered lifeless Saturday morning inside a vehicle parked in an alley in the Ville-Marie borough was the victim of a murder, the City of Montreal Police Department confirmed on Sunday.

This is the first homicide to occur in Montreal since the start of the year.

The 30-year-old man died from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.

A report had was carried out at 7:50 a.m. Saturday to 911. The presence of an inert person in a black van, parked in an alley near Dufresne and Logan streets, in the Centre-Sud neighborhood, was reported.

Upon their arrival on the scene, SPVM officers discovered a lifeless man, whose body showed signs of violence. No resuscitation maneuver was attempted.

The investigation was entrusted to the major crimes unit of the SPVM.
