A first “satisfactory” Blood for Blood Challenge which mobilized 17 companies from the Thau basin

Seventeen companies, 70 donors. The results of the first edition of the Blood for Blood Challenge, organized by the Young Economic Chamber of Sète and the Thau Basin, are “satisfactory”, says Amélie Ayats, the project director. This initiative aimed to mobilize local companies and their employees around blood donation. In partnership with the French Blood Establishment (EFS), three collection days were specially organized, once a month, from October to December, at the Georges-Brassens hall. This Thursday, January 30, the association awarded prizes to the organizations that had shown the most solidarity and involvement.

Structures rewarded

Despite the need to quickly find a plan B, after the closure of the Brassens hall where the ceremony was planned, the mobilized companies responded on Thursday evening. Three winners were rewarded: Casamo for structures with fewer than 10 employees, the Pont Neuf garage for those with between ten and twenty employees and the port of Sète-Sud de France for those with more than 20. “We also awarded a special prize for involvement to Sète Agglo, which did not have the highest donor rate in proportion to its workforce but managed to attract the most donors in total”, indicates Amélie Ayats.

The success of this inter-company challenge also contributed to “reaching cruising speed” for blood donations in the region, Dr. Jean-Marc Dhalluin, a doctor at the EFS in Montpellier, recently noted in our columns. He added: “This has helped build loyalty among people.” Given the success of this Blood for Blood Challenge and at the request of the participating companies, a second edition could take place this year. At the same time, the Junior Chamber is continuing its actions around water, neighborhood life and schoolchildren by organizing an intervention in a school environment around harassment.
