Applause, shouts of joy, songs… But what are these hundred people who gathered on the forecourt of the Opéra Comédie, this Tuesday, January 7 at around 7 p.m. celebrating? ? They “celebrate”, in their own words, the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen, the founder of the National Front.
At the call of left-wing associations, but also of an Antifa collective, they came to express their satisfaction with songs and slogans to see the far-right politician disappear.
“And now, who's the detail of the story ?”
Some even sang the song: “He's dead, the old fascist”. Or again: “And now, who's the detail of the story ?”. All under the surveillance of a handful of police officers also booed by the small crowd to the sound of: “And everyone hates the police”. Other slogans have also targeted Marine Le Pen.
For the moment, this is the only known gathering in Montpellier, but others could be organized in certain neighborhoods of the city.
